A domain is paid by the year. If we registered yours, it renews when you pay its invoice, and you see it in your client area under Domains. If it expires, your website and your email stop working, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the date.
How the renewal works
- 30 days before the domain expires, the renewal invoice arrives by email.
- Pay it with the button of the email, or in Billing › My Invoices. With a saved card, it is charged on its own on the due date.
- When the invoice is paid, the domain renews for one more year, with nothing else to do.
To see your domains and their expiry dates, open Domains in the top menu of the client area.
Privacy
The public records of a domain (the WHOIS) show who owns it. When we register a domain we can hide your name, email and phone there, at no cost. If you want it on a domain you already have, ask for it in a ticket.
A domain you already have
- Keep it where it is and point it to our hosting: see Point your domain. You keep paying the renewal to that company.
- Move it to us so we renew it with your hosting: open a ticket. You’ll need the transfer code (called EPP or authorization code) that your current company gives you, and the domain has to be unlocked.
Your domain is yours: when your invoices are paid, you can ask us to transfer it to your own account at any registrar. It’s in section 8 of our terms of service.
