Whoever sells for you doesn’t need to be an administrator. With the Cashier role they sign in to the register and sell, and they never see the WordPress dashboard or what your products cost you.
Create the user
- In WordPress, go to Users › Add User. The New user button in WooCommerce › Dox POS › Screen, in the Who signs in card, opens the same form.
- Fill in the username and the email of that person (1), for example
maria@example.com, and give them a password of their own, never yours. - In Role, choose Cashier (2).
- Click Add User (3).
That person opens the address of the register (your site followed by /pos) and signs in with their username or email and password. If they open the WordPress login or wp-admin instead, they land in the register too, with no admin bar.
Already has a user? Open their profile in Users, change Role to Cashier and click Update User. The Who signs in card lists everyone who can get into the register: administrators, shop managers and users with the Cashier role.
What a Cashier can do
- Use the Sell, Inventory, Orders and My day tabs. My day shows only their own sales of today.
- Record sales and layaways, and the stock that arrives.
- Mark a layaway as paid or release it, and mark orders as shipped or delivered.
What stays with you
These are only for administrators and shop managers:
- The Dashboard, the full Reports and the Products tab, where products are created and edited.
- Costs and profit. A Cashier records stock without seeing any cost.
- The gear at the top of the register, with Shipping costs, and the settings in WooCommerce › Dox POS.
- Confirming the payment of a website order, cancelling an order that was already shipped or delivered, and voiding a stock entry from another day or from another person.
Note: each sale records who made it, so the order shows the seller’s name next to the channel. When someone stops working with you, change their role or delete their user in Users.
