The forecast

Dox POS Pro · 0.32 or newer

The forecast takes the pace of your recent sales and carries it forward: when each product runs out, how much to restock for a month and how the month would close. It is a projection at the current pace, not a promise.

The Forecast group under Today in the assistant, with its heading, the line of how the month would close and a product with the days it lasts and what to restock marked
The register › Assistant › Today › Forecast

Where it is

In the register, open Assistant, stay on Today and scroll to Forecast (1). The heading says which pace it uses, for example at the pace of the last 30 days. A shop with less history uses the days it has.

Not there yet? The forecast needs at least 14 days and 15 sales of history. Until then the group does not show, so it never projects from two sales.

How to read it

  • The month (2): a line like “September stands at $4,120 on day 18 and would close at $6,870 (August: $6,240)”. It is what you have sold so far plus the daily average for the days left, next to last month’s total.
  • Each product (3): “3 left · lasts 5 days (until Oct 3) · restock 14”. It lists the published products that would run out in the next three weeks, up to six. Restock is what sells in 30 days at this pace minus what you have now.
  • If nothing is close to running out, it says Nothing runs out in the next three weeks at the current pace.

Tap a product name to open it. The pace of a product counts at least a week, so a product that sold twice on its first day does not look faster than it is.

On the Dashboard

With the Pro, the Dashboard tab of the register adds two cards, and both open the assistant:

  • This month, at the current pace: the same projection of the month, projected from the last 30 days.
  • Not turning over in 90 days: the money sitting in published products with stock that sold nothing in 90 days, for example 12 products, at cost. If some of them have no cost, it counts them at sale price and says so.

Ask the chat

In Assistant › Chat you can ask the forecast in your own words: “when does the Ella Dress run out?”, “how much should I restock for next month?”, “which is my best day of the week?” or “what is not moving?”. You can also ask it to use another window, from 14 days to a year. The assistant always says it is a projection, and if there is not enough history, it says exactly that.

What it uses: the forecast under Today and the Dashboard cards are worked out from your sales and use no questions, with or without a licence. Asking the chat does use them: Questions included and your own OpenAI key.
